Polk sheriff pushes for 'Guardian' program in county schools
2018-03-13T23:14:52+0000
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd was one of the first sheriffs to call for the program to arm school staffers. Some school board members are open to the idea:
The Parkland mass shooting a month ago was a major topic during the meeting. Parkland parent Andy Pollock spoke to the board.

Oooooooh Great ! There go's the neighborhood!!!!! Lol
Guess you don't read about the crimes in Port St Lucie and just make up stories about safe places. It's probably the most dangerous place to live on the entire treasure coast.

While driving down Bayshore Blvd. last week, Everett Tuten, an Irrigation & Landscape Inspector with PSL's Public Works Department, noticed some smoke in a median and realized a fire was starting. His quick thinking stopped it from spreading and averted a potentially hazardous situation!
He knew that there was irrigation in the median and immediately called the contractor to turn it on.The fire was quickly extinguished. Thanks to Everett for helping to put the City's strategic goal of being safe, clean and beautiful into action! ...
I bet a cigarette thrown from a car was the culprit!
Maybe fireworks.
Thank you evertt
talk about perfect timing Nice
Thank you Everett
God bless you Everett...we thank you
My hero!
I like to thank Lee with Masuen Consulting also. Thank you Lee for helping me out.
Good job my friend!
Good job!!!
Maybe if the CITY didn’t put all these stupid over grown plants in the median and mulch there wouldn’t be a problem. All this stuff does is cause visibility issues and cost more money for up keeping and irrigation!
Good job Everett!
Thank you.

Despite a rocky start, the Panthers trusted the system in their first season under Head Coach Bob Boughner.

Just don't trade some of our best players again in the offseason! We are a cup Contender if we keep Jonathan marchessault and Riley!
Our BIGGEST,MOST GLARING area we need to work on is GIVEAWAYS! Yandle led the league! Ekblad was 6th! Matheson was 10th! Huberdeau was 14th! Troceck was 19th! That's three in the top 10 and 5 in the top 19! UNREAL!!!
I think we got a good coach! I hope that style and hunger will continue to grow
My cat Boogie is a big fan of Coach Boughner.
Like the coach, love the team, can’t wait till October
Not to mention Borgstrom and maybe Tippett coming up
Trust the system!
dale tallon should have stood up for gallant...he would likely be in the playoffs now.
Will be there in Oct and Vince as captain
Just start next season like you ended this one!
We got this next season

Remember back in February when we asked you to take a Citizen Survey about life in PSL? Well, more than 5,000 of you did! And now we have the results.
More than 80 percent of residents who participated in a statistically-valid Citizen Survey rated Port St. Lucie as an excellent or good place to live -- which is up 19 percent from those surveyed almost 10 years ago.
Earlier this year, the City of Port St. Lucie joined hundreds of cities across the country in conducting a survey to measure the quality of life for residents. The 2018 National Citizen Survey™, which was conducted by the National Research Center, Inc., is a snapshot in time showing how Port St. Lucie residents from across geographical areas feel about their city.
A key finding: Residents’ ratings for the quality of life and services provided by the City have improved since 2009. Respondents’ evaluations for the overall quality of life, neighborhoods, the City as a place to retire, raise children and live -- and the overall appearance and image -- have each improved considerably since a baseline survey that was conducted in 2009.
