Natty Ice beer thief shot by gas station owner — who faces attempted murder charge

Rennie Defoe Jr., 43, of Plant City walked into a store in Lakeland at about 11:40 Tuesday night and grabbed three 18-packs of Natural Ice from the cooler, then walked out the door, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

A man toting two armfuls of cheap beer who walked out of a Shell station in Lakeland without paying was shot by the store’s co-owner late Tuesday, deputies said.
