Lake County issues mosquito-borne disease advisory

Eastern equine encephalitis, or EEE, is transmitted to humans by the bite of an infected mosquito. Most people don’t get sick, but the few who do can get gravely ill, according to the CDC.

Lake County health officials are asking residents to take extra steps to protect themselves from mosquito bites because two horses have tested positive for Eastern equine encephalitis, increasing the risk of transmission to humans.
