Doctors push for higher HPV vaccination rates


It’s been nearly two decades since the HPV vaccine was developed to fight the cancer-causing human papilloma virus. The vaccine is recommended for teens, but many parents are still hesitant to have their child get it.

Earlier this month, 70 nationally recognized cancer centers and five national cancer organizations joined forces to increase HPV vaccination rates and improve screening to prevent HPV-related cancers. Locally, a physician group has implemented a procedure to surpass national vaccination rates.
